Formed in Great Yarmouth in 1990, Catherine Wheel stood apart from the era’s grunge and Britpop scenes, blending shoegaze with powerful, textured rock. Their debut album Ferment, released in 1992 on Fontana and produced by Tim Friese-Greene (Talk Talk), featured the breakout single “Black Metallic” and earned a spot on Pitchfork’s 50 Best Shoegaze Albums. This reissue faithfully recreates the original UK release on 180g vinyl and includes a bonus 3-track live 12" EP from their 1991 Bath Moles Club performance on 140g vinyl.
