Soul Jazz Records are issuing three albums from Brown Spirits as ultra-limited, one-off coloured vinyl pressings of just 500 copies each, all deleted on release.
Originally self-released in Australia or via a small German label in very short runs, Brown Spirits #2 and #3 have long been unavailable, while earlier Soul Jazz titles Cosmic Seeds and Solitary Transmissions are also sold out.
Based in Melbourne, alongside acts like Amyl and the Sniffers, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and Tropical Fuck Storm, the trio—Tim Wold, Agostino Soldati, and Ash Bushcombe—craft heavy, high-energy psychedelic rock influenced by krautrock, free jazz, and 1970s funk.
Recording and mixing to ¼-inch analogue tape at home, they maintain a strict DIY approach, resulting in a raw, immersive sound that has earned them cult status.
