The Chthonic Chronicles is the sixth and final studio album from the Sheffield symphonic black metal band Bal-Sagoth, released in 2006 via Nuclear Blast and Candlelight Records. Its title draws from the Greek term chthonic, meaning earthly or relating to the underworld and its spirits, and refers to a fictional narrative created by lyricist Byron Roberts. Continuing Bal-Sagoth’s epic blend of symphonic black metal, death metal and fantastical storytelling, the album serves as the closing chapter of the band’s recorded legacy.
