Ali Farka Touré, Mali’s legendary guitarist, first gained local fame in the 1970s through radio broadcasts and early vinyl releases, including his self-titled albums. The final two, known as the ‘Red’ and ‘Green’ albums, helped launch his international career after World Circuit Records located him via a radio appeal. Digitally remastered, the Green album highlights Ali’s acoustic guitar and vocals, often accompanied by calabash and ngoni, cementing his enduring influence on African music.
