ABBA’s fifth studio album, The Album, celebrates its 40th anniversary. Released on December 12, 1977, alongside ABBA: The Movie, it features UK number-one singles “Take a Chance on Me” and “The Name of the Game,” European hits like “Eagle” and “Thank You for the Music,” and three songs from their mini-musical The Girl with the Golden Hair. With just nine longer tracks, it topped charts worldwide, including a seven-week run at #1 in the UK, and became ABBA’s highest-charting U.S. album.
